Oscar Castillo’s art is driven by a deep sense of freedom that allows him to tackle global issues and take a clear stance on social challenges. Being a foreigner gives him a unique perspective, allowing him to observe reality from both the inside and the outside at the same time.

Working with acrylics, encaustic, and found objects, Castillo moves past regional clichés to focus on universal issues that affect us all—such as gender violence, homelessness, wildlife, and natural disasters. His work, which has been widely exhibited in major cultural capitals across Europe and Mexico, ultimately invites people to look at these shared realities from multiple perspectives.

Based in Berlin, he balances making his own art with teaching printmaking workshops and painting murals.
